Why sport insurance?

Sport insurance is essential for all organizations. Members in good standing of Sport NB are eligible to participate in the BFL insurance program. It is important to understand, this program is not meant for Provincial Sport Organizations (PSOs) that obtain coverage through their National Sport Organization (NSO). It is the organization’s responsibility to understand their coverage and ensure their directors and officers, their members and clubs, and their programs and events are protected against any issues that may arise. Furthermore, it is becoming standardized practice for facilities to require proof of insurance when booking facilities. 

Who is eligible?

Provincial Sport Organizations and Multisport Organizations who are members in good standing of Sport NB are eligible to access this program. The coverage of this policy extends to their member clubs, participants, coaches, and volunteers.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for enrollment, you must meet the following criteria:

• PSO must be a member in good standing with Sport NB. Club members must also be in good standing.
• You are a permanent employee working in Canada.
• You are actively working for your employer at least 20 hours a week.
• You have completed the 3 month waiting period. Any period during which you do not meet the above eligibility requirements cannot be counted as part of the waiting period.

Translation services and Proofreading

Sport NB will coordinate all translation service requests for our members, through a third-party translation service. These requests are managed by emailing translation@sportnb.com.

Simultaneous translation services

Sport NB members can access financial support for simultaneous translation for online and in-person conferences, workshops, training sessions and webinars that are provincial in scope. In order to access funding, please complete the form and include a quote for the service. A maximum grant of $3,000 can be provided per organization, per event 

French second language training (Fall 2024)

As part of ongoing efforts to increase the ability of staff to effectively communicate with members in the language of their choice, Sport NB is pleased to offer access to in-person classroom learning within the Sport NB offices and/or online French language training services.

Beginner, intermediate, and advanced training will be available based on the needs of the registered participants. Not sure what level to register for? Not a problem, the instructor will assess your current level and will advise you on the appropriate class.

Sport NB will be reaching out to its members to establish a training program that meets the current needs. Options could include a Fall session (September to December) and/or a Winter session (January-April). A summer session could be offered moving forward based on identified need.

Sport NB has proudly partnered with ITP sport for the administration of the NBSSCM.  All complaints will now be received through IntegrityCounts, a secure and independent reporting intake and case management system.  This secure online platform is available to members 24/7/365, and ensures that all complaints are managed through independent expert consultation services.

For individuals who would like to report a complaint via phone, please email nlaird@itpsport.ca with the subject heading: Sport NB – Complaint Phone Submission. In your email, please indicate preferred days, times and language for a case manager to do a phone intake. 

The following may be eligible to enter the program:

• Complaints of Maltreatment as defined in the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS)
• Two types of appeals (subject to grounds for appeal):
  1. Final decisions of a PSO/MSO alleging that it failed to follow their constitution/by-laws or policies
  2. Final arbitral decisions made by a Mediator/Arbitrator appointed under the NBSSCM
