2009 Pitney Bowes Sport Awards

The 2009 Pitney Bowes Sport Awards took place November 28th at the Crowne Plaza-Lady Beaverbrook Hotel in Fredericton. Over 220 people came out to show their support for New Brunswick's finest athletes, administrators, coaches, and volunteers. The event also helped raise $4000 for KidSport through the Boston Pizza Balloon Pop, silent auction, and basket of cheer. SportNB thanks  everyone who came out to celebrate New Brunswick's best!

Inside Sport NB

Sport NB would like to welcome Lindsey Sparkes (Communications and Event Coordinator) and René Julien (Program Coordinator) to the Sport NB team. Also, Sport NB would like to thank Lori Johnstone and John Hunter for their years of dedicated service to the Sport NB Board. Their two seats have been filled by Paul Lavoie and Marianne Limpert.



News from the NB Sports Hall of Fame

The New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame has put out the call for nominations of individual athletes, teams, and builders who have left their mark on sport in the province.

The deadline is January 15, 2010 and nomination kits including forms and complete information on eligibility are available from the NBSHF website http://www.nbsportshalloffame.nb.ca or by calling 506-453-3747.

KidSport™ News

2009 Year in Review


In 2009 KidSport was able to distribute $86,663 which helped 535 children be able to participate in sport. Events such as the McInnes Cooper Dragon Boat Festival, Dianne Dixon Memorial Softball Tournament and the Phoenix Petroleum Golf Tournament help make this possible! Coaches Corner

 

Coach/Manager Section

The Centre for Coaching Education of New Brunswick will offer the National Coaching Certification Program Competition Development (Old Level 3) Theory clinics in English in Fredericton and Moncton.

The NCCP Theory 3 has now been officially phased out and is no longer available. A schedule for delivery of the six new CompetitionDevelopment modules will be offered in 2010  (click
here for dates) Coaches can either attend the modules as a  stand-alone module or per pkg presented. These modules will be offered once again in New Brunswick Summer & Fall of 2010. (Example: coaches will be able to take a few modules this fall, spring 2010 & fall 2010 if chosen to)
These modules will also be available at the Atlantic Coaches Seminar that will be held in PEI this May 21st - May 24th 2010.
