Amateur sport simply cannot play its vital nation-building role successfully without significantly more exposure.

The COC has launched an initiative to
apply for an English language national digital broadcast license to operate as the Canadian Amateur Sports Network (CASN) and a French language national digital broadcast license to operate as Réseau des sports amateur canadiens (RSAC). Read more...

Community Sport Funding Program

If you want to increase opportunities for children and youth to play sports* in your community, the True Sport Community Fund can help.
Over the next year, communities will benefit from $5,000 grants and $25,000 grants.
Please refer to the Fund Guidelines
 for a definition of sport eligibility.
The deadline is
March 31st, 2008.

Aboriginal Coaching Summit

The 2008 New Brunswick Investors Group Aboriginal Coaching Summit will be held on March 26-27, 2008 at the Rodd's Miramichi. This conference will introduce delegates to the new National Coaching Certification Program, explore what it means to be a coach and identify ongoing opportunities for coaching education. To register as a delegate please contact Jason Peters no later than Friday, March 15, 2008. Aboriginal participants outside of the Miramichi will have travel, accommodations and meals covered.




 

French Immersion Multi-Sport Camp
for March Break

Sport Academy NB is offering a French immersion multi-sport camp for boys and girls ages 5 to 10. This day camp will be held at "Le Mascaret" middle school (Léopold Belliveau Dr., Moncton) from March 3rd to the 6th.
This camp is the perfect opportunity for children to learn and develop skills in several sports while practicing their French skills.

2008 Canada 55+ Games

 

The City of Dieppe will be hosting the 2008 Canada 55+ Games from August 26th to 31st.
Participants will come from across the Country to compete in this event; between 1000-1300 are expected. Twenty different activities are being offered to the participants.

The Canadian Paralympic Committee is sponsoring a poster contest that could lead to children not only winning Team Canada gear, but also having their work displayed for the world to see.

KidSport™ News

One of the sources of funding for KidSport™ NB is Canadian Tire JumpStart®.
JumpStart® and the Heart and Stroke Foundation have partnered to raise funds to get more kids physically active.
The goal: By March 31st, to raise enough money to register 100 kids in a session of organized sport.
Help assist both KidSport
and JumpStart®, and make a donation!!!

Coaches Corner

The Centre for Coaching Education of New Brunswick will offer the National Coaching Certification Program Multi-Sport Part B Theory clinic in English in Fredericton.
The Multi Sport Part A will be held Marcy 14th and 15th 2008.
The length of the Multi-Sport Part A is 13.5 hours and the cost is $60.
