New Brunswick's Sport Plan

This Discussion Document has been developed following a provincial brainstorming session, 9 regional consultations and meetings with several key stakeholders.
To provide your input to the Sport Plan, please review this document and provide your comments and suggestions to the consultant, Colin Higgs.

Making Dreams Possible

General Motors (GM) Making Dreams Possible initiative, in partnership with the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) has awarded 115 community clubs grants and 10 high performance grants across Canada!
CAC is now accepting applications for the next wave of GM’s Making Dreams Possible Club Coaching Grants and High Performance Coach Grants and the grant deadline of February 14, 2008

To help clubs and coaches complete their applications, there is a new Helpful Hints page which gives an outline of specific criteria the Selection Committee is looking for.

"TRI" a New Activity!!

Come "TRI" a New Activity!! The UNB Campus Recreation First Annual Indoor Triathlon is a unique event that blends the concept of an outdoor triathlon with a fun indoor event that anyone can try! The event will be held Sunday, Feb. 24th from 12:00pm - 5:00pm. No Experience Necessary!

online, or come to the Campus Recreation Office for more information.

2008 Beijing Olympic Youth Camp

August 8, 2008 will mark the beginning of the XXIV Olympic Games and the world will gather in Beijing to celebrate this monumental event. This year’s Olympic Youth Camp will offer an intercultural experience to youth from around the world.
The 2008 Beijing Organizing Committee (BOCOG) has allocated every National Olympic Committee two spots, one male and one female, to attend the 2008 Olympic Youth Camp. All expenses for our two delegates including registration, flights, transportation within Beijing, accommodation and meals during the Olympic Youth Camp Program.

National Youth Leadership Conference

Canadian youth, between the ages of 16-22, are invited to apply for Motivate Canada’s 4th annual ACTIVATE National Youth Leadership Conference on Sport, Recreation and Physical Activity!

ACTIVATE 2008 will be held at Carleton University in Ottawa from May 7-11, 2008 and will bring up to 50 young people (age 16 to 22) together from across Canada to ACTIVATE their communities and effect positive change through sport, recreation and physical activity. 

We are looking for applicants who have an opinion about sport, physical activity and youth development; have an interest and dedication to their community; have a desire to use sport and physical activity for social change; and are willing to share their ideas and work with other youth to come up with creative solutions to getting youth more active across the country through ACTIVATE In Action projects.

HBC Donates Money to Amateur Athletes

Hudson's Bay Company has announced  $2.9 million in aid, including direct support to 200 amateur athletes.

About $2 million of the donation was raised through the annual HBC Run For Canada campaign. The $900,000 not going directly to athletes will help fund various national training centres and to supply resources to help athletes reach podiums.

This is the third installment - for a total of $6 million so far - of the $20 million that HBC has committed to raise by 2012 via the annual July 1 run.

2009 Canada Summer Games Apprentice Coaches

 

The Centre for Coaching Education of New Brunswick is pleased to announce the selection of two New Brunswickers that will be part of the Women in Coaching Apprenticeship Program at the 2009 Canada Summer Games.  Paula Murchison from Saint-Jacques (Swimming) and Jennifer Butler from Bathurst (Athletics – Track & Field) have been chosen as New Brunswick’s participants in this national program.  Both women will serve as members of the New Brunswick coaching staff for their sport at the 2009 Canada Summer Games, as well as take part in the upcoming “Women in Coaching Canada Games Apprenticeship Seminars” in Mississauga, Ontario from February 22nd to 24th 2008 and in Calgary from November 7th to 9th 2008.
The Centre for Coaching Education of New Brunswick, and Team New Brunswick, are pleased to add these two female coaches to the team for the 2009 Canada Summer Games being held in Prince Edward Island from August 15th  to 29th 2009.

KidSport™ News

The Restigouche KidSport™ Chapter, Sport NB, Sugarloaf Provincial Park, Restigouche UCT and Campbellton Minor Hockey Association are pleased to announce the presentation of the 1st Sugarloaf Park Pond Hockey Tournament. This recreational tournament to be hosted March 3, 4,& 5 is to offer participation to youth and adults in four different categories on two outdoor rinks in front of the Ski Chalet.

Coaches Corner

The Centre for Coaching Education of New Brunswick will offer the National Coaching Certification Program Multi-Sport Part A Theory clinic in English in Fredericton.
The Multi Sport Part A will be held February 15th and 16th 2008.
The length of the Multi-Sport Part A is 11.5 hours and the cost is $40.
