Summer Tournaments Donate Generously

Phoenix Petroleum Ltd. donated the all the money raised from their first annual golf tournament to KidSport NB. The tournament was held at the Riverbend Golf Club in Durham Bridge on Thursday, August 28th and was a great success, bringing in $4,000 for KidSport.

Phoenix Petroleum Ltd. approached Sport NB with the plan to organize a golf tournament for their customers and staff and donating the proceeds to the KidSport program.  With this event being a success in its first year, there are already plans to hold a second annual golf tournament with the proceeds once again going to KidSport.

Phoenix Petroleum Ltd. is a leading petroleum service and construction firm based in Atlantic Canada.   With clients extending across the country, the firm specializes in servicing, exploration, distribution, and retail areas of the industry. In addition, Phoenix is a leading facilities and asset manager for airline petroleum across the country.

Sport NB and KidSport would like to thank Craig and Krista Dixon and those who participated in the 6th Annual Dianne Dixon Memorial Co-ed Slo-pitch Tournament for their recent donation.  They donated the proceeds of $1500 from this year’s tournament to KidSport.

In June of 2002, Craig’s mother Dianne Dixon passed away unexpectedly from colon cancer after a brief illness. Later that summer, along with his wife Krista, began what they hoped to become an annual memorial co-ed slo-pitch softball tournament in support of local charities.

They developed a philosophy from the beginning of wanting to assist organizations where their annual donation could make a significant difference at that time in their operation and at the same time honor the memory of their mother in way she would be proud.

“KidSport NB has been a nice partner in our fundraising efforts for 2008 as they understood the passion behind what we do and we know that Mom would be very proud of our choice to support local kids this year”, says Dixon of this years charitable selection.
