About the Festival

Beyond the dragon boat races, plenty of fun, family-oriented activities take place along the Saint John River on the Festival Site, including the celebration of Chinese culture. The festival features the Awakening of the Dragon, the Eye-Dotting Ceremony, food, games, sport demonstrations and much much more!

Be part of the excitement and raise awareness about your organization!  The Festival site will provide Provincial Sport Organizations an opportunity to raise funds for their organizations and to promote their sport through participation in the McInnes Cooper Dragon Boat Festival.

The Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic is committed to supporting high performance athletes and coaches training in Atlantic Canada through the provision of essential services towards their pursuit of athletic and personal excellence. The CSCA is part of a national network of multisport centres that links high performance athletes and coaches with sport related services in addition to advocating for high performance sport and promote coach education. Money raised from the Dragon boat festival goes to three regional training centres located in New Brunswick; Wrestling, Cycling, and Judo. The funding received allows these athletes to attend competitions and access services to help them reach their full potential.

KidSport™ is a children’s fund. Its objective is to assist children of families facing financial obstacles to participate in community sport programs. The KidSport goal is to provide these children with the opportunity to achieve physical, social, intellectual and moral development through participation in sport. KidSport™ raises money through special activities such as the Dragon Boat Festival and other events to help pay for registration fees so that all children have a chance to play.
